FCA & TWB Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Manual
THIS TEACHER TRAINING MANUAL on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) is developed by Finn Church Aid (FCA) and Teachers Without Borders (TWB) Finland. The manual contains guidance and practical steps for integrating elements of psychosocial support in the teaching and learning process. It is designed to be facilitated by trainers, local educators and community workers to the benefit of teachers, children and youth.
The training manual consists of six (6) training modules that can be used flexibly. The first three (3) modules are meant for supporting the teachers' wellbeing, and the last three (3) modules are meant for the classroom support for learners' wellbeing. The modules include the following sub-topics:
- Stress and relaxation
- Compassion
- How to identify and support learners with MHPSS concerns as a teacher
- Recreational activities for MHPSS
- Social and emotional learning
- Life skills
The content design allows you to pick individual modules or sessions and adapt the training content according to the context’s needs. We hope you find it useful!

تمّ تصميم هذه الدّورة التّدريبيّة المفتوحة - ذاتيّة الوتيرة، والّتي تقوم على دمج (PSS) و (SEL) في الدّروس من أجل التّعلّم الشّامل عالي الجودة - من قِبَل فريق من المعلّمين الّذين يعملون مع المتعلّمين اللاجئين، والضّعفاء في جميع أنحاء لبنان.
وتهدف إلى البناء على ما تمّ تعلّمه مسّبقًا فيما يتعلّق بالتّعلّم الاجتماعيّ والعاطفيّ (SEL)، والدّعم النّفسيّ الاجتماعيّ (PSS)، وذلك لتزويد المعلّمين بالثّقة؛ لتقييم الأنشطة بشكلٍ نقديّ، وتكييّفها مع سياقهم المحليّ، وتقييم مدى تأثيرها على تعلّم الطّلاب ورفاههم.
سيكون لدى المعلّمين الّذين يُكمِلون هذه الدّورة التّدريبيّة القدرة على:
- تحديد مفهوم (PSS) و (SEL).
- دمج (PSS) و (SEL) في خطط الدّروس.
- خلق مساحات آمنة للمتعلّمين النّازحين، واللاجئين، وغيرهم من الطّلاب الضّعفاء.
- التّفكير في الأدوات وطرق التّعليم عند تنفيذ أنشطة (PSS) و (SEL).
- تقييم تكيُّفها، ومدى قدرتها على تنفيذ أنشطة (PSS) و (SEL).
سوف تستغرق من 8-10 ساعة، في المتوسط ، لإكمال هذه الدورة.

Using a variety of interactive tools and pedagogies, educators experience the need and value of SEL for themselves and its powerful transformational role in cultivating safe, supportive, and inclusive classrooms for their learners. course builds knowledge and awareness of social and emotional competencies for educators themselves and supports the application of pedagogical practices in classrooms that build these competencies in learners. It is rooted in the importance of positive relationships between educators, learners, and the larger community.
Social and emotional learning for schools
This is a dual certifying course that combines social and emotional learning (SEL) for classrooms and SEL for teachers. The objective of the certification is to enhance personal well-being and build the professional capacity of teachers for SEL.
