Guinea requested Task Force’s support to achieve a holistic situational analysis that should lay the ground for the development of a national policy document on teachers. This diagnosis is based on a holistic and coherent approach that would document the context of teachers' status, their working conditions, their management and administration structures, in light of the country's development goals and educational priorities.
The Task Force on Teachers for EFA mobilized the technical expertise that backstopped the National Technical Team set up to undertake the diagnosis. This multisectoral team of 45 members includes officials from various ministries in charge of education, ministries involved in teacher management (finance, public budget, plan), and representatives of civil society and social partners (parents and teachers organizations, etc.).
Presentation of the situation analysis Report
The process was completed and the report was shared with all stakeholders on the 6th and 7th May 2013. It was during a validation workshop held in Conakry and chaired by His Excellency Mr Mohamed Said FOFANA, Prime Minister, Head of Government, in the presence of Ministers in charge of the education system and representatives of the Ministry officials and partners. After the presentation of the results of the diagnosis by the technical team, the Minister of Pre-University and the Civic Education gave a keynote speech in which he acknowledged the relevance of the support provided by the Task Force. In his opening address, H.E. the Prime Minister praised the success of the process and invited all stakeholders including the ministries in charge of education, Civil society organizations and partners of education to make good use of the results and explore all avenues to devise good and enduring solutions for a quality teaching force in order to develop a quality education system in Guinea.
In order to promote South-South cooperation, the Secretariat of the Task Force, in accordance with its mandate, has committed an expert, Mr Mohamed ABOUBAKARI, from the Ministry of Education of Benin to coordinate the diagnosis in Guinea.
The situation analysis report is being revised to incorporate feedback received from participants, and will be soon available on our Website.
