Non-positional teacher leadership (NPTL) Information and guidance
This guide supports the implementation of non-positional teacher leadership in schools, an approach that enables any member of staff - regardless of formal role or status - to exercise leadership through teacher-led change. Developed alongside Teachers and the Practice of Leadership (Frost et al., 2025), it provides comprehensive guidance and tools for establishing and facilitating a school‑based programme that includes workshops, tutorials, and network events. The programme empowers educators to identify professional concerns, design and lead development projects, and collaborate with colleagues to improve practice.
