CPD framework for teachers
The British Council's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) framework for teachers enables teachers to structure their professional development and supports them in enhancing their knowledge, skills, behaviours and attributes as a teacher.
What does a good teacher look like?
One of the tools the British Council uses to help answer the question of what a good teacher looks like is our CPD Framework for teachers. It describes teacher skills, knowledge and attributes through professional practices and in relation to developmental stages.
Uses of the framework
The CPD framework can be used:
- by individual teachers to plan and pursue their professional development journeys
- by materials developers in the creation of learning resources for teachers
- by educational stakeholders and teacher educators in the design and evaluation of CPD programmes and interventions
- by ministries of education to develop country-specific standards for teachers.
